Terms of Use
1. Agreement
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Abroadster ("Abroadster," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the Abroadster mobile and web application and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account, tapping "I agree," or using the Service, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Contact: samimoudarres@hotmail.com
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Abroadster. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms. You must provide accurate registration information and keep it updated. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for safeguarding your password.
3. The Service
Abroadster helps students connect around study-abroad communities and travel. Features may include (and may change over time): • School community chats and AirMail messaging • Trips, invites, join requests, and trip albums (including optional private album photos for trip members) • A home feed for posts and stamps • A map showing people, trips, and programs according to privacy settings (including location precision choices) • Profile, passport, and explorer-score features • Push and in-app notifications • Report and block tools for safety We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
4. Accounts and student verification
Some features may offer verified-student status when you register with a qualifying school email. Verification does not guarantee admission to any school program, visa, housing, or travel arrangement. Abroadster is not a university, travel agency, or insurance provider.
5. Your content and license
You retain ownership of content you create and upload ("User Content"), including messages, posts, photos, trip details, and profile information. You grant Abroadster a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for formatting), display, and distribute your User Content solely to operate, improve, and provide the Service (for example showing your post to friends or delivering a message to a recipient). You represent that you have all rights needed to post User Content and that it does not violate law or others' rights (including privacy, publicity, and intellectual property). You can delete some content in-product. Deletion from servers may take time and copies may remain in backups for a limited period.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to: • Harass, threaten, stalk, defame, or exploit others • Post illegal, hateful, pornographic involving minors, or violently extremist content • Share others' private information without permission (doxxing) • Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation • Spam, scrape, or use bots/automated means except as we expressly allow • Probe, disrupt, or circumvent security or access controls • Upload malware or attempt unauthorized access to accounts or systems • Use the Service for commercial spam or unauthorized advertising • Violate export controls or other applicable laws You can report users, posts, or album photos you believe violate these rules. We may remove content, limit features, or suspend/terminate accounts that violate these Terms or create risk for the community.
7. Safety and trips
Trip planning, map locations, and messaging are tools for coordination among users. Abroadster does not supervise trips, verify travelers' identities beyond account features, arrange transportation, or guarantee anyone's safety. Upcoming trip visibility and join requests are limited by in-app friendship and privacy rules; Abroadster does not collect hotel, flight, or arrival-time fields as structured trip data. You are solely responsible for your travel decisions, compliance with local laws, visas, and personal safety. Meet people and travel at your own risk. Use caution when sharing precise location or meeting offline, and use the location privacy settings in the app when you prefer a less precise map pin.
8. Permissions
The Service may request access to location, camera, photo library, and notifications. You can refuse or revoke permissions in device settings; some features may not work without them. Separately, you can choose how precise your map pin is in Settings. We use permissions and location choices as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Intellectual property
The Abroadster name, logos, app design, and software (excluding User Content) are owned by Abroadster or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the Service except as allowed by law or with our written permission.
10. Third-party services
Maps, authentication, cloud hosting, and similar third-party services may be integrated. Your use of those services may be subject to their terms. Abroadster is not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ABROADSTER DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be secure, accurate, or available at any particular time, or that User Content will be error-free.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ABROADSTER AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND PARTNERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.
13. Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify Abroadster and its team against claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your User Content, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. Delete your account in the app under Profile → Settings → Delete account, or use https://abroadster.vercel.app/delete-account. You may also email samimoudarres@hotmail.com. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by nature should survive (including licenses already granted to content displayed to others, disclaimers, and limitations) will survive termination.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, excluding conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence provide otherwise. Courts located in Travis County, Texas will have exclusive jurisdiction for disputes, except where prohibited.
16. Changes
We may update these Terms. We will post the updated Terms in the app and revise the effective date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
